Access to clean water and basic sanitation should not be a luxury. Join us to bring Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programs to remote villages in need in Cambodia.
The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) program is a holistic approach to bringing clean water to villages in Cambodia.
In each village where we work, the following activities will be undertaken in close collaboration with community leaders, government authorities and local partner organizations:
- Drill and/or dig wells in each village to ensure a year round water supply
- Curtail open defecation by supplying latrine materials and promoting self-help installation from the villagers
- Install Bio Sand Water Filters in at least 70% of the households
- Educate through intense health and hygiene promotion before, during and for up to five years after installation. ‘Water for Cambodia’ tests its Bio Sand Filters five years after installation and recently published results indicating that 82% of filters were still in use and functioning properly after five years.
